Android 3 (Honeycomb)
Tested on : Acer Iconia Tab A500 , bought in Singapore- Setting the language of the device
Settings > Language & input > Under Language settings tap on Select language > both Simplified Chinese 中文 (简体) & Traditional Chinese 中文 (繁體) are available.
- Inputting Chinese
Settings > Language & input > Under Keyboard settings tap on Configure input methods > Under XT9 Text Input tap on Active input methods > go to the bottom of the list and you'll find 简体中文-拼音, 简体中文-笔划, 繁體中文-注音, 繁體中文-拼音, 繁體中文-筆畫, 繁體中文-倉頡, 繁體中文-速成倉頡
Once in an input field, long press on the round settings icon on the bottom left of the keyboard until a pop-up appears, then choose your input method.
The Android keyboard allows voice input (voice recognition)
Settings > Language & input > Under Keyboard settings tap on Configure input methods > Under Android keyboard tap on Active input methods > Untick Use system language and choose the languages you want to use under Active input methods > tick Chinese, Yue Voice or Chinese, Mandarin Voice
Once in an input field, long press on the round settings icon on the bottom left of the keyboard until a pop-up appears, then choose your input method.
It also allows voice actions & input in Mandarin & Cantonese (Yue)
Settings > Language & input > Under Voice input tap on Voice recogniser settings > Language > Choose Chinese, Mandarin or Chinese, Yue
Note that it's only possible to set 1 language as the default voice input method
